Stitched into Bloomnotes on impermanence

This suspended installation embraces a wabi-sabi ethic, where nothing is pure, new, or final. Constructed from upcycled materials, papier-mâché and oil colors—the work hangs lightly from above, emphasizing fragility and balance. At its center, petals are formed from fragments of old sketches, hand-stitched onto a semi-transparent canvas. The central shape hovers between bud, organ, flower, and body-in-becoming, reflecting on time as something unfixed—tended through small, careful gestures rather than held in place.

“Stitched into Bloom” is deeply aligned with both my artistic process and my ecological convictions. The work emerges from a practice rooted in slowness and material sensitivity, where stitching becomes a meditative act of repair and transformation. By reusing and recontextualizing materials, I engage with cycles of decay and renewal, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and mindful creation. The piece embodies an ongoing dialogue between making and meaning, where ecological awareness is not an added theme but an intrinsic part of how and why the work comes into being.
